Days 2-3

Day 2

The Fall & Murder

Read Genesis 3-4.

As you read, watch for the answers to the following questions.

What did Adam and Eve do to commit the first “sin”?
Why did Adam and Eve cover themselves?
What happened to the serpent? Man? Woman?
What were Cain and Abel’s jobs?
Who killed whom? Why?
When did people begin calling upon the name of the Lord?

After reading and answering the questions, take time to pray.

Thank God for your life. Ask Him to help you not commit murder in your heart by hating others. Ask God to give you understanding of how the Bible tells His story.

Understanding the Old Testament: The first prophecy about the Messiah happens in the passage you read today. Can you identify the prophecy? There are many prophecies about a coming Messiah in the Old Testament. Jesus is the only person to fulfill them all! The New Testament book of Matthew points out several prophecies that Jesus fulfilled.

Day 3

Abram to Abraham

Read Genesis 12:1. Continue as far as you can in the time given.

As you read, watch for the answers to the following questions.

Where did Abram come from?
To whom was Abram married?
Who was Lot?
In Genesis 15, what was God’s covenant with Abram?
In Genesis 17, what was God’s covenant with Abraham?
Name Abraham’s children.

After reading and answering the questions, take time to pray. Spend some time thanking God for what He is doing in your life. Be specific.

Understanding the Old Testament: The covenant with Abraham was about the circumcision of the flesh, and the use of circumcision in the New Testament is about the circumcision of the heart through repentance and faith.
