Days 4-5

Day 4

Joseph

Read Genesis 37:1. Continue to read as long as you can about Joseph and how God used him to keep His side of the covenant that was made with Abraham.

As you read, watch for the answers to the following questions.

Why did Joseph get sold into slavery?
How did Joseph get into trouble with Potiphar?
How did Joseph get out of jail?
How many of Joseph’s brothers came to Egypt looking for food?
What did Joseph do to his brothers when they asked for food?

After reading and answering the questions, take time to pray.

Tell God how grateful you are for His continual watch and care over us. Thank God for your family and ask Him to heal any wounds that you might be carrying with you from fights with your family.

Day 5

The Passover

Read Exodus 12-14:31.

As you read, watch for the answers to the following questions.
What was supposed to be done with the blood of the Lamb during the Passover?
What happened when the Lord passed through Egypt during the Passover?
Why was the bread that the Israelites ate unleavened?
Who was supposed to observe the Passover?
Which way did God lead the people of Israel to get out of Egypt?
How did God lead them? By day and night?
What happened when the Israelites crossed the Red Sea?

After reading and answering the questions, spend time in prayer.

In your own words, express to God your thankfulness for His protection for those who love Him.

Understanding the Old Testament: The blood of the Passover Lamb is a picture of the blood of Christ that was shed for the forgiveness of sin.  Those who place their faith in Christ receive forgiveness for sin instead of punishment.
